I'm off to San Jose today for EliteXC/Strikeforce,
set for the Saturday night at the HP Pavilion.
The main even pits Frank Shamrock against Cung
Le, and I gotta say that bout is a pick-em, a
toss-up. You've
got the experienced veteran, the well-round martial
artist Shamrock against a young, fiery, undefeated
traditional martial artist. Cung Le is continuing to
make the transformation into an MMA star, and if he
wins this fight, that will do it instantly because
Shamrock is such a credible opponent. Whoever can
take control of the fight is going to win; it's that
simple, that easy.
I'm going with Nick Diaz in his fight against Jae
Suk Lim because Nick has had a rough go of late.
There were high expectations for him of late, yet
he's had a couple less than impressive performances.
But I believe he's going to step it up and bring his
A-game back to the forefront.
The Gilbert Melendez-Gabe Lemley fight definitely
should be a good one, but I'll give the upper hand
to Gilbert. He's a young, hungry, fiery competitor
who should come out on top.
Wayne Cole has a very tough challenge in Mike
Kyle, but I think Wayne will pull it out.
The fight between Joey Villasenor vs. Ryan Jensen
is another tough one to predict, but I have a
feeling Villasenor might grab the victory.
Spring is upon us, so I'm doing a lot of domestic
work at home.
My commercials are airing in various cities, such
as New York, Atlanta, Oklahoma City and elsewhere
... and they're hilarious. Watch for them on the
site here soon.
Wanda has not been home too much of late. She's
been super busy working lately, so Gage and I have
done a lot of bonding. We've really had a lot of fun
playtime. I taught him how to pull-my-finger, and
all of the other important things in life. He's
helping me with my cars and the yardwork as well;
it's all good with Gage.
I have several friends on the San Diego Padres,
so of course I'm happy the baseball season is
starting and I'm cheering for them. I follow Brian
Giles, Trevor Hoffman, Greg Maddux and several
others.
The
NHL playoffs are right around the corner, so this is
a great time to be a hockey fan. Detroit, as usual,
is having a great season. Same for the San Jose
Sharks, where I'll be for the next few days. It's
good to see Montreal having a great season; that's a
team with so much tradition. The Western Division is
great, with only about seven points separating
first- from fifth-place. That Ovechkin from
Washington is unbelievable. Malkin from Pittsburgh
also is having a great season. I can't wait to turn
Gage into a hockey fan, too.
WrestleMania 24 is Sunday in Orlando, and I'm
just really sad that I'm not being inducted into the
WWE Hall of Fame. It broke my heart that I didn't
get the invite. I not only had my induction speech
written, but memorized too. I even had my outfit
picked out. Oh well, hopefully next year.
And Thursday night on Spike TV, TNA Wrestling
delivers its first-ever live iMPACT! That's some
serious news, but I didn't even know till someone
mentioned it in passing. Oh well.
That's it for now,
Bill
